Tribute to Jonesy

November 4, 2011 @ 12:41 By Gavin Webber 2 Comments

I interviewed a knowledgeable guy called Doug Jones for my podcast back in April this year.  He blogged over at Wind-blown, dust and dirt. Here is the link to podcast 16 where we talked about his community, his passive solar house, and his veggie patch, as well as his illness.

Today, I received this from his daughter Michelle today via his blog.

“For those of you who have enjoyed my Dad’s blog, I am sorry to say that my father passed away in June. I am sorry this isn’t a more formal message but I was just cleaning up some old emails and found this link to his last post.
Right until the end Dad pushed back at the world trying to gain a foothold. I know that he appreciated your interest in what he was doing & the kinship and ideas he found in the online community. For the time being Dad’s blog will remain up. As you all know he was a keen photographer among other things and some time time in the future we may be able to share more of his ideas & work. But for now on his behalf, let me say “Thank you and goodnight””

With a tear in my ear, I say far the well to a guy who was passionate about sustainable living.

If you would like to pay your respects, you could do no better than leave a comment on his last blog post, aptly titled “Signing Off“.  Bless you mate!

Oh no! I was just checking his blog yesterday to see if there’d been an update on how he was going. Oh, my, how terribly awful and sad.
