Frugal Princess Goes to the Ball

November 1, 2008 @ 16:17 By Gavin Webber 7 Comments

As most know, yesterday was Halloween. Megan was invited to a fancy dress party, so she took herself down to the op-shops in town and had a look around. She came home with a second hand wedding dress in ruffled silk. Kim and I were gob-smacked when she told us the price. She managed to get it for $20 and she paid for it herself!

Megan Halloween 1 Doesn’t she look absolutely stunning. I felt like the father of the bride, however I hope that day is a long way down the track!
Add a simple Venetian ball mask ($3.50) to the outfit, and you have a costume fit for Halloween.

Kim wanted to add some make-up so that Megan looked like the girl out of the movie “A Corpse’s Bride”, but Megan would have none of it.

Megan had to machine the dress it to get rid of some very puffy sleeves, and to bring the waist in a little, but other than that, she didn’t have to alter the dress much at all.

The proud Father gets a chance to make-amends from her debutante ball. I was out of action because of my back injury that night. I am so glad I got a second chance for a photo shoot.
….and there is a kiss from Dad for being so frugal.

Well done love. Keep this up and I won’t have to buy anything for your wedding!

That dress is absolutely beautiful – and she looks stunning!

She’s clearly smart as well as beautiful to have snagged a bargain like that. Great job.
