Mothers Day Rush

May 6, 2015 @ 20:24 By Gavin Webber 3 Comments

Who would have known that Mothers Day was such a big deal in the retail world?  Maybe I have had my head under a rock for the past 50 odd years, but Kim and I have been run off our feet over the last week because everyone is buying kits for their Mum.  A real Mothers Day Rush.

Our Little Green Workshops online shop has been going gangbusters and we are often up late working, even after I have done a full days work.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I am not complaining one little bit.

In fact, we love it.  We get to share the sustainable lifestyle and values each and every day with our kits and service.  Even our soap making courses are fully booked for the 31st May.  We have had to put on another course in the afternoon to accommodate for the demand!

I also love that people are buying Cheese, Soap, Preserving, and Candle making kits for their Mums and partners.  It warms my heart that they are opting for DIY instead of buying commercial products that are mostly unsustainable and from dubious sources.

And what also excites us is that about 50% of our sales are from return customers, and from all indications they are very pleased with our customer service and products that we have made.

We also listen to our customers as this is the best feedback and helps us to check if we are on track.  We were asked a few times if we had a gift wrapping service, which we didn’t at the time.  So Kim did some research, found some ecoWapping paper and I enabled gift wrapping software on the website and now we have one with eco credibility.

Kim's Gift Wrapping service

Kim’s Gift Wrapping.

If it keeps going like it is, I may even be able to spend more time working with Kim (that is a good thing), rather than at my other job.  Time will tell, but we are excited for the future.

Who would have thought that our sustainable lifestyle would have turned into such an opportunity as this?  Living the dream is what I call it.  Now, I better stop writing and get back to work.  The boss is calling!

Catch you all on the podcast tomorrow night.  Take care, and don’t forget to call your Mum on Sunday, or think of her if she is no longer with us.

After all, we wouldn’t be here without them!
