Not Enough Hours in the Day

November 17, 2014 @ 23:01 By Gavin Webber 9 Comments

Who would have thought that starting a small business, whilst having a full-time job, and being a regular blogger and podcaster, would take up so much time.  We were so naive!

Kim is doing most of the Little Green Workshops (LGW) stuff, but I do the accounts when I get home, and then work on all the website updates as we add new products to the online shop.  We just added some handmade market bags, and some candle making accessories tonight.

We are still working on the entire soap making product line, which has been a struggle at times because we had to design and test each product from scratch.

It is consuming more time than I have hours in the day.  I even missed my podcast episode last week, which I am none too proud about.  There will be one this week, I promise.

In addition to the online shop, we have had simple living courses every weekend for the last four weeks.  So much fun to teach with Soy Candle making yesterday, and we still have two more remaining for the year until we take a breather until March 2015.

This weekend is the Advanced Soap making, and the weekend after is Soy Candle making.

Soy Candle Making at Melton South

At least all of this is keeping us both out of mischief!

I have still found the time to maintain the suburban food farm, and have planted more pumpkins that have sprouted.  The spuds I planted a couple of weeks ago have come up, and the garlic and onions are ready for harvesting when I find time.

Crazy times here at the house of GoG!  I hope we catch up with the workload soon.  Maybe once our workshops finish for the year, we will get ahead.

Very true Phil. Once the mortgage is paid off, it is full time on everything I love doing. Not long now!

I hear you Gav, Its 11pm and I’ve just crawled into bed after washing, sorting and packing fruit for an order this week. And this doesn’t include the fruit needed to fulfill market orders this Saturday. We are also picking fresh apricots for market. Very tiring but very rewarding

Hey Sham. Glad to hear that your fruit business is doing so well. By the way, Kim and I love your chocolate dipped dried pears and peaches. They are divine!

Hey everyone, my cousin Charmaine has a great little dried fruit business in the Riverland. She does ship within Australia. You can find her stuff at http://www.facebook.com/nichefruits. She also sells directly at markets in South Australia.

Sounds hectic Gavin! I posted around this theme today too. I always, always want to achieve more in a day than I do! I would love to be closer. The advanced soap making course really interests me.

Hi Linda. Your’s sounds equally hectic. This weekend will be the first time we have taught it, so we are a little nervous. We have a good course outline, so it should be fine.

Sat morning was just not the same Gav. I’ve bought the fruity market bag from Teena. Im happy to support such a talented crafty lady. Looking forward to more items.

I hoping that keeping busy is helping Kim at this time. Hope Jess and I can catch up with you both before Christmas. Always guaranteed a good belly laugh.

Thanks for your support Lynda. Teena is over the moon! Will pop it in the post tomorrow.

Sounds like fun, Kim will liaise with Jess to organise something.

All exciting Gavin, you are doing a great job to spread the word.
Remember to look after yourself and take a break when you need it.

I’m good at giving advice but not so good at following it myself!
