Blog Back On-line

February 2, 2014 @ 00:22 By Gavin Webber 4 Comments

wordpress-logo1-300x300Great news everyone!

The blog is up and running again, with the same kind of look, but now it is hosted via WordPress, and hosted at RFE Hosting, out of the USA.

Why didn’t I choose Aussie hosting, I here you say.  Well, it was just too expensive as were the quotes I received for blog migration.

Due to the size of this blog, the quotes I source ranged from A$1000, A$500, to US$249.  I also looked for good service and reliability.  RFE Hosting fit the bill.

Anyway, I am very pleased with the look and feel, and the possibilities, especially with all of the wonderful plug-ins that are available to me.

Spam comments are a thing of the past.  Before I left blogger, I was getting at least 30 a day that I had to removed from posts manually.  Thankfully it is now all automatic.

As for the header picture, I think it might be time for an upgrade, so I am looking for a designer who will be able to help out.  If you know of anyone, leave a comment.

So the very next post I will be getting back into greening, focusing on some of the things I have been doing around here.

See you soon!

Oh, by the way, let me know what you think of the new layout.  I would love some feedback.

Cheers fns. It is quite simple once you get the hang of it. By the way, you are the first comment on the new site!

Welcome to wordpress! The spam filter alone was worth the switch, but I
find the platform very user-friendly. As of today I am able to visit
your site (links via Feedley and twitter were leading to “server not
    found” announcements, but no longer).

The spam filter is amazing! Thanks for the feedback regarding up-time. I didn’t expect it to take so long to replicate. I suppose that is what I get for migrating over a weekend.
