On Leave

December 19, 2013 @ 21:14 By Gavin Webber 16 Comments

The blog will be frozen in carbonite.

Well today marks the start of my two weeks annual leave that I take each year around this time.

Thank goodness!  We are not going anywhere, just here at the Suburban Food Farm on our own little staycation.  Cheapest, frugalist, holiday, ever.

I will be kicking back a little, spending some time away from the blog, and spending more quality time with my family and friends.  That, and watching the pumpkins and tomatoes grow, talking to the chickens, and harvesting some potatoes during the really quiet periods.  I might even get around to finishing my gardening eBook.

Suffice it to say that it will get a little quiet on the blog, except for a few classic posts from the archive every so often.

However, Kim and I do have a big treat in store.  Tomorrow afternoon, we are recording a Christmas special podcast, where we will be looking back on the year of sustainable living that was.  There may even be a carol or song or two!

And if the lure of the blog becomes too much, I will most probably (definitely) write up a quick post or two about our staycation, and how the garden is travelling in the summer heat.  For example, it was 42° C (107.6° F) today, but all plants make it through due to a generous soaking last night.  Just the start of the heat we will have to put up with over the angry Australian summer.

Not my family, just your friendly neighbourhood Storm Troopers

So allow me to take the opportunity to say thank you all so much for reading and following all of my blogs and media channels during the year, and I look forward to serving up more great stories, adventures, projects, and tutorials from our sustainable lifestyle in 2014.

This is our family!  Ben is much taller now, Adam is in Germany, and Teddy is absent.

Merry Christmas to you and your kin, take a well deserved break, and see you all in 2014.

Until then, keep keen and stay green.
