So the results are in, but you can still leave feedback if you like. Click to enlarge.
The results from highest to lowest are as follows;
- Food Gardening Tips
- Frugal Living
- Personal Stories
- Anti-Consumerism
- Chickens
- Energy Efficiency
- Renewable Energy
- Cheese Posts tied with Opinion Posts
- Climate Change News
- Video Tutorials
- Peak Oil News
- Podcasts
Now a little analysis, if I may. I was very surprised with Frugal living, coming in at #2, because Frugal living is really a result of the action I take at most of the other topics.
However my biggest surprise were Podcasts, mainly due to over 800 people subscribing to them via iTunes. Maybe these listeners are not readers of the blog? I must do something about that, and promote the blog more within each episode.
As for the rest, I am comfortable with the results, because none of them received total votes lower than 25%. To me, that means that just about every topic has an audience, which is really backed up by the wonderful comments that I also received with the post.
I really appreciate the time you spared to either provide feedback or leave a comment.
Where to from here? Well I take it all on board and write less of the lower rated ones, and more of the top rated topics. After all, I do write for you, my readers, and adding opinion pieces when I get frustrated or need to get something off my chest.
Once again, thanks for for voting and reading this blog.

Hi Gavin, I would not take the low placing of Podcasts too personally — I think some people like to listen to them, and some people don't. I for one usually would prefer to read about something rather than listen to a podcast, although I couldn't really tell you why. This may explain why you have separate audiences there.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Frugal Living, Gardening, Energy Efficiency. Many people are looking down the road to a future where, the more self-sustainable our community can be, the better off we will be. Those kind of skills are very desirable now. Thank you for the great blogposts!
You're welcome Marcellina. Thanks for the feedback. You make a good point about the podcasts audience possibly being different, and the future making.

Hi Gavin, I did vote too.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I really want to say, please don't reduce the amount of posts of cheesemaking. Because I think not every person is making cheese or have the skills to do so. But there are people who do have them and make a lot of it. So do I.
I don't know why you should change the way your blog was written. Look at it. It's well known and people visit it every day. For several reasons. So for me, keep up the good work. I like it a lot!
Thank you very much for all the efforts and time you put in this work.

No problem John. The cheese making blog Little Green Cheese will stand on its own, with regular posts as usual. I have only been cross posting on this blog out of courtesy to the regular curd nerds. ;-)
DeleteHi Gavin,
ReplyDeleteOnly saw your survey now, but I love your opinion posts, anti-consumerism, frugal living and gardening posts the most. Although, I do find all your posts interesting. And I really appreciate the frequency with which you post. I can only imagine how busy your days must be.
Another thing I would love to see is you posting more recipes, or more about your vegetarian days and updates on how your resolutions are going?
